In fact after the IMPPA (Indian Motion Pictures Producers Association) passed a resolution cautioning members against signing Pakistani artists, the Cinema Owners Exhibitors Association of India (COEAI) are now planning to call for a ban on films starring Pakistani artists. Commenting on the same the President of the COEAI, Nitin Datar stated that in the wake of national sentiment and the fact that they would not want to go against their patrons, the association would be deciding on whether to boycott films featuring Pakistani artists at a soon to be held executive committee meeting. Further Datar added that a number of exhibitors feel that they would not like to take the risk of going ahead with anything that is against public sentiment, and that the IMPPA has taken the right initiative which they are keen to follow. Eros and Viacom 18 would be joining hands to coproduce filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s next ambitious venture Rani Padmavati. In fact an official announcement of the same was also made which claimed that since the production cost of the film is approximately Rs. 150 crores, Eros would no longer be the sole producer and would be joined by Viacom 18 as well. However, now we hear that despite an announcement and the casting of the film being finalized, Eros International has decided to opt out of the production venture. Though the actual reason behind this sudden quit is unknown, speculation is rife that it may be due to a series of flops that the studio had at the box-office recently. But walking a different path, a source close to the production house says, “Eros had never really announced any association with Rani Padmavati, all stories that have been floating in the media have been speculative. So there is no question of Eros backing out of the project.” If that wasn’t all, a well-placed source also informs us that, while on one hand Eros has decided to opt out of the project the filmmaker, Sanjay Leela Bhansali has in fact approached Reliance Jio to come on board as co-producers along with Viacom. It seems like Shah Rukh Khan is once again in trouble due to his house as he has been accused by the local group of flouting heritage rules. The Watchdog Foundation has now written an official plea to the government of Maharastra to seize SRK's bungalow. Nicholas Almeida of Watchdog Foundation recently revealed that they have been fighting this case since 2013. The illegal ramp built by SRK was affecting their duties of the lady of Mount Mary because the encroachment built by SRK was done on a 300-year-old cement road. So 18 months after filing the complaint, BMC was forced to demolish this ramp. After the demolition of the ramp, SRK had to pay its charges of Rs. 1.93 lacs. He further added that when they went into the depth of his lease conditions, it was written clearly by the Collector of Mumbai that if Shah Rukh Khan or Gauri Khan violated any conditions in the CRZ, then the lease is bound to be cancelled. He said that SRK had done illegal construction which has been proved. So this condition was violated, and hence his bungalow has to be seized by the collector. That is why they had to write to the collector. He forwarded their complaint to the tehsildar and the BMC and asked them to go into their complaints and take further action. But the matter has pushed down again. We are waiting for an answer on the same from the collector's office. According to Almeida, the original name of Mannat bungalow was Villa Vienna. So according to the heritage law, one cannot change the name. The name has been changed from Villa Vienna to Mannat. And if SRK changes the name, then as per law, he has to put both the names - the original name and the old one. He has violated this law as well. However, people close to Shah Rukh Khan have stated that these accusations are just for publicity and nothing else. According to a source, the ramp was demolished and subsequently, BMC had passed an order of taking over the setback area after a few months. So technically, the demolished ramp was the property of Mannat as the takeover notice came months after the demolition. Subsequent to the demolition, a bill of Rs. 1.93 lakhs was raised on 4th March 2015 and it was paid the very next day on 5th march 2015 to avoid any further controversies that could be raised. She claimed that their family, which includes her husband and brother-in-law Nawazuddin Siddiqui, have been torturing her since she got married. Soon after the allegations, Nawazuddin Siddiqui held a press conference to tell his side of the story stating all the accusations made by his sister-in-law was just for publicity. He said, "I'm falsely charged by my sister-in-law because I'm a soft target for her and she could have easily made the news out of me. I'm an actor so, that could also be a reason for her allegations. Had it happened with a common man, it would not have made the headlines on television and newspapers." Nawazuddin clarified that he had never asked for any dowry from Afrin's (sister-in-law) family. Rather it was her uncle who always tried to mint money from his brother Minazuddin as when they got a chance. Nawaz presented CCTV footage of his house from September 28 explaining the whole drama as he had high fever that day. He said, "On the night of September 28, my sister-in-law's uncle and his wife came at our place with a proper plan of robbery. They entered Minazuddin's room to meet her. Then we heard a noise in a while and we all ran to see what exactly happened. The moment I reached, I saw my sister-in-law's uncle was rushing towards the main door with Afrin. I didn't have any conversation with her nor did I touch her."
